Hi, I’m Nick.

I was raised to believe that we can use politics to help people, and that’s why I’m running.

I grew up in the small town of Marksville, Louisiana as the son of parents devoted to their communities. My dad, John Ed, served as a councilman and mayor of the town, and I was brought up hearing stories about how we can make things better through public service. My great grandfather Emeric was also a mayor, and my great uncle Raymond Laborde was a legislator and commissioner of administration — service runs in the family. Raymond got into public service because 70 years ago rural parts of Avoyelles parish lacked reliable access to electricity, and this started a multi-generation commitment to service.

After leaving my hometown, I got both my Bachelor’s in Business Administration and my MBA from UL Lafayette (Geaux Cajuns!), eventually finding my way to Baton Rouge in 2018. I’ve lived in District 2 my whole adult life.

In my professional life, I’ve started a video game development company, helped ship world-famous Crawfish Bread all over the planet, served as the head of HR at a virtual reality training company, and worked as a consultant to help businesses grow sustainably.

My specialty is building great teams and world-class environments where people love coming to work, and I’d like to do the same for Louisiana.

I’ve seen a lot of what our state has to offer. We have wonderful people, a great culture, and no shortage of ways to have fun — but we’ve still got progress to make. I’m enthusiastic about our future.

After Hurricane Ida, I knew that I needed to help in whatever way that I could. I organized a charity event with the state’s video game developers that raised over $30,000 for relief efforts. I kept wanting to help, and not too long after, in 2022 amidst soaring Entergy bills, I helped tens of thousands of Louisianans learn how to contact the Public Service Commission in a TikTok video. It caused so much participation throughout the state that the New Orleans City Council ended up quoting me directly. Now, things are coming full circle as I run to be your commissioner.

Being involved in these opportunities to serve our community really inspired me to want to do more for Louisiana, and I’m committed to bringing a strategic vision to our state.

I’m a Democratic candidate for District 2 of the Public Service Commission, and have lived in Baton Rouge since 2018 with my wife and our rescue dog. This district has been so welcoming to me, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve you as your commissioner.
